Dr. Krzysztof Kurowski

Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center (PCSS)

Head of Quantum Technologies

Description

Dr. Krzysztof Kurowski holds a Ph.D. with habilitation in Computer Science from PoznaƄ University of Technology and has more than two decades of experience in national, European, and international R&D projects. His research focuses on parallel simulations, discrete optimization, scheduling, and resource management in distributed and hybrid quantum-classical computing environments. Dr. Kurowski has authored numerous scientific publications, served on editorial and scientific boards, and contributed to major initiatives in astrophysics, biomedical sciences, weather modeling, life sciences, quantum technologies, and large-scale computing infrastructures associated with the LIGO, and CERN ecosystems. Currently, he leads the national quantum computing infrastructure initiative at PCSS, based on two photonic quantum systems integrated with HPC and AI environments. He also coordinates the EuroQCS-Poland consortium, responsible for deploying the first EuroHPC trapped-ion quantum computer, Piast-Q, and integrating it with high-performance computing and Piast-AI infrastructures at PCSS. In addition, Dr. Kurowski contributes to the European Quantum Excellence Centre for Quantum-Enhanced Applications (QEC4QEA) initiative and supports activities within the European Quantum Academy, helping advance quantum research, innovation, and education across Europe.
